Honoring Ossipoff: Thoughtful Renovations for Modern Living

Adapting Vladimir Ossipoff’s Architectural Legacy to Meet Contemporary Client Needs

Acclaimed Hawaiʻi architect Peter Vincent, FAIA, NCARB, will share his approach to renovating Ossipoff residences, focusing on preserving their authenticity while thoughtfully updating them to meet the needs of today’s clients. Peter will also share how elements of Mr. Ossipoffʻs work have influenced other some of his other notable projects.

Peter is the Founder and Managing Partner of Peter Vincent Architects. After studying at the Phoenix Institute of Technology and the Boston Architectural Center, his early career took him from Arizona to Boston and then Rome, Italy, before he ultimately made Hawaiʻi his home. A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Peter is the design visionary and driving force behind his 33-year-old architecture and interior design firm based in Honolulu.

He currently serves as President and Board Chair of the prestigious Lyceum Fellowship and is a past President of both the Hawaiʻi Architectural Foundation and AIA Honolulu. Throughout his career, Peter has completed a diverse body of award-winning projects and recently launched Island Homes: Casual Elegance in Design, a book featuring a collection of noteworthy PVA projects.

The book will be for sale after the program!

So incredibly refreshing to see a residence unmolested by unsympathetic ownership. The personal touches, stories and tales from the last 67 years provide an amazing tapestry from which we can appreciate this architectural masterpiece. May the preservation of this house inspire not only its’ preservation but also that of other modernist examples in Hawai`i. Thank you.
