Roof Repairs
In late winter, Taketa Sheet Metal completed two days of essential roof repairs to address ongoing leaks that have developed over the years due to installation errors. These issues have become increasingly frequent over the past two years, prompting a shift from temporary fixes to more comprehensive repairs.
The roof is second generation, installed in 2005 shortly after the passing of Howard Liljestrand. Taketa corrected several instances of improper lapping, thoroughly inspected and sealed all fasteners, and replaced sections of valley intersections and flashing.
The Foundation is especially grateful to Taketa for donating the materials and labor to cap the chimneys. Rain storms occasionally brought water down the chimneys. It had not been an issue until recently with a storm that resulted in a large amount of water falling onto the model case in the Playroom fireplace. The decision was made to cap the chimneys rather than risk future damage.
With these repairs, we’re optimistic that the roof will remain in solid condition for another 20 years.
