Yoga Workshop in partnership with Yoga Room Hawaii
Featuring Naomi Iwabuchi

We are excited to announce our second yoga workshop taught by Naomi Iwabuchi, yoga instructor and co-owner at Yoga Room Hawaii.

As a special treat, Anna Sachs and Paul Nelson will be accompanying Naomi with live music!

The Spring Solstice marks a significant moment in the Earth’s cycle, symbolizing balance and the transition into a period of growth and expansion. In yoga philosophy, this balance is often represented by the integration of opposing forces such as the Sun (Ha) and Moon (Tha) energies, as you mentioned.

Balancing poses in yoga, such as Tree Pose (Vrksasana) or Eagle Pose (Garudasana), provide a physical manifestation of this equilibrium, requiring focus, strength, and alignment. By practicing these poses, we not only enhance our physical balance but also cultivate mental and emotional equilibrium.

Reflecting on the balance of Sun and Moon energies in our lives, we can consider how to harmonize our active, outward-directed aspects (symbolized by the Sun) with our receptive, inward-directed aspects (symbolized by the Moon). This may involve finding a balance between work and rest, action and reflection, or outer achievement and inner nourishment.

Spring Equinox presents an opportune moment for setting intentions and planting seeds for future growth. Just as the Earth awakens from its winter slumber, we too can harness the revitalizing energy of this time to pursue our aspirations with vigor and determination.

So incredibly refreshing to see a residence unmolested by unsympathetic ownership. The personal touches, stories and tales from the last 67 years provide an amazing tapestry from which we can appreciate this architectural masterpiece. May the preservation of this house inspire not only its’ preservation but also that of other modernist examples in Hawai`i. Thank you.
