The original canec ceiling (a type of fiberboard created from sugar cane, popular in Hawaii in the mid-20th century) in the master bedroom was damaged during our plumbing overhaul and required careful repair by craftsman Peter Martin. Â
What a transformative experience to view such an innovative and functional work of art that people happened to live in!
The Liljestrand House is listed on the Hawai‘i State and the United States National Register of Historic Places.
